Current Projects:
1. Climate change and hydrology: The critical connection between greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and the hyporheic zone at the stream network scale in two watersheds of contrasting land use
Problem: Previous research confirms that stream processing of reactive nitrogen, primarily bioavailable ammonium and nitrate, is a potentially important source of the potent GHG nitrous oxide (N2O), but few studies have measured GHG emissions at the stream-network scale.
Objectives: This research will investigate the role of land use - land cover change, in the form of agriculture, on hyporheic processes at the stream network scale through a combination of novel field data collection and analytical-modeling simulations.
